Guidelines for In-Person Worship
As we worship in what we hope are post-pandemic times, we, first, remember that we are, together, the body of Christ. God has put this body together with the more vulnerable in mind, as Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12, so that “there won’t be division in the body and so the parts might have mutual concern for each other.”
Keeping this in mind, we offer this guidance, emphasizing our commitment to one another in love and recognizing that each of us may have different levels of comfort as we return more fully to worshiping in person.
Masking:
Consistent with new CDC guidelines, we are no longer requiring masks for in person worship. However, if you still wish to wear a mask for whatever reason, please do so. We encourage you to take any and all steps you feel necessary to care for yourself. We ask that all attending respect one another's decisions regarding masking, social distancing, and the like.
If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms of any kind, we ask that you remain at home and join us online for worship.
Worship:
Hand sanitizer will be provided and widely available in the sanctuary.
Communion will be served. Prior to distributing the bread, Pastor will visibly use hand sanitizer. S/he will then break off individual pieces and place them in outstretched hands, so that no other person is touching the bread. Gluten-free wafers will also be available. Wine and/or grape juice will be distributed in individual disposable cups, preferably cups that can be recycled.
We will pass the peace. Please follow the direction of the person you are sharing the peace with regards to offering a hand to shake or a fist or elbow to bump or with a wave.
Online worship will be available and continue to be accessible through Zoom. In addition, a worship recording will be posted each week on our Facebook page.
Fellowship:
We encourage fellowship and, particularly, bringing goodies from home for this. We encourage you to prepare home-baked items with the same health and safety precautions you normally would for more public distribution.
Note: Guidance is based on most current CDC recommendations. As these change, this document will be updated to reflect new recommendations.
